On Friday, May 12, 2006, it began raining heavily in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It didn't stop until Thursday, May 16. Rivers overflowed their banks, thousands of people had to be evacuated from their homes and thousands more were trapped by the rising waters. I was one who could not leave home with my street closed due to high water. This piece which was done during this period of isolation in copper and polymer, reminds me of the swirling water.

A two-sided mixed media piece that can take you from a casual look, involving a combination of 5 different polymer canes, edged with 18 k gold leaf to an elegant, little black dress look. Strung on a 24K gold plated wire. The making of this necklace was recently published in the September-October issue of Step-byStep Beads magazine.

The Turtle's Tale
Designed for my cousin, Suki, who was doing a wallk for mental illness in Maryland, the turtle represents Mother Earth in Native American lore. Suki, like the turtle, is very brave and has faced some difficult times with grace and dignity. This necklace incorprates blue and amber colored swarovski crystals and a set of my "Deep Aegean Blue" polymer beads, together with a small polymer turtle with a big smile on his face.
